We are seeking a qualified, goal-driven and self-motivated Unit Leader to join our multidisciplinary team.
Purpose of the Role
The Unit Leader provides clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred dialysis care. The role oversees clinical governance, quality, operations, financial performance, and team development while ensuring compliance with professional, ethical, regulatory, and organisational standards. Through effective care coordination, multidisciplinary collaboration, and continuous quality improvement, the Unit Leader enhances patient safety, outcomes, and the overall patient experience.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Qualifications Diploma or Degree leading to registration as a Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) or Clinical Technologist (Independent Practice) registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Current registration with the applicable professional body. Previous experience ensuring adherence to all relevant healthcare laws, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. Post Basic Diploma in Nephrology Nursing. Qualifications in Management, Leadership, Business Management, Healthcare Management, or a related field. A Quality Management or Risk Management qualification will be advantageous. Experience Minimum 5 years' experience in a dialysis, renal, or acute healthcare environment. Demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Proven experience in delivering patient-centred care and driving positive patient outcomes. Experience in managing clinical quality, patient safety, infection prevention and control, and regulatory compliance. Experience in staff supervision, coaching, performance management, and workforce development. Sound understanding of healthcare operations, resource management, and service delivery. Minimum 2 years' experience in a Unit Leader or equivalent leadership role. Experience managing unit budgets, stock control, resource utilisation, and cost containment initiatives. Experience in stakeholder relationship management, including doctors, patients, families, hospitals, and service providers. Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency. Knowledge Renal and dialysis clinical practice. Patient-centred care principles and patient experience management. Clinical governance and quality management systems. Healthcare legislation, ethical practice, and professional standards. Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety. Financial and operational management principles. Human Resources management principles and labour legislation. Risk management and incident investigation. Stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
