JOB DESCRIPTION:

Short Summary:

The main responsibility of this position is to manage the inbound and outbound activities of the warehouse.

Responsibilities:

Warehouse and Distribution Planning
- Execution of FIFO warehousing principles.
- Ensure that finished goods and the raw material are packed and palletized correctly.
- Supervise the picking of stock for loading as per the issued order.
Hygiene and Housekeeping Management
- Ensure that all products produced are QC checked and stored correctly.
- Ensure that factory hygiene and proper sanitation practices are maintained.
- Ensure that proper controls are exercised over personal hygiene and protective clothing.
- Ensure that food safety rules are followed at all times.
- Ensure that good housekeeping practices adhere to the premises.
Training and Discipline
- Ensure that the warehouse staff receives continuous on-the-job training.
- Ensure warehouse staff conduct themselves in a disciplined manner at all times.
Utilization of Personnel and Equipment
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and effectively utilized.
- Continuously motivate warehouse staff to improve on standard performances.
- Ensure that the warehouse forklifts or reach trucks are checked and correctly maintained.
- Ensure that only licensed personnel drive the forklifts and reach trucks.
- Ensure that any pallet that has broken slats is returned to the supplier.
- All pallets returned to Chep must be recorded and reconciled.
- Ensure that the various forklift drivers complete their daily forklift checks.
- Ensure that all store pedestrian doors and roll-up doors remain closed.
Monitoring and Improvement of Warehouse Processes
- Monitor existing processes to ensure maximum utilization of resources.
- Ensure accurate monthly stock count of all products.
Safety and Loss Control
- Ensure that factory standards comply with the national safety regulations.
- Ensure stock control processes are followed to minimize unauthorized removal of materials.
Packaging Stores
- General housekeeping of stores and organizing the correct storage of packaging materials.
- Organize and plan with the Warehouse Manager and Quality Control.
General Reporting
- Reporting on Key Performance Indicators.
- Assist with any ad hoc tasks allocated by Management.

Key Competencies:

Education and Experience

Diploma in Warehousing and Logistics
At least 5-year experience in an FMCG environment
Fully computer literate with knowledge of SAP
Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans
Highly Numerical and Analytical Skills
Thorough understanding of financial reporting
Thorough understanding of control procedures
Familiar with HACCP or FSSC22000
Own transport is essential
