JOB SUMMARY:
One of our client's in the Gaming industry who has a national presence is looking to grow their team and is currently on the market for an experienced BI Specialist.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Purpose of the Role:
To drive the development of detailed business requirements and participate in the design, development, analysis and testing of business processes and technology changes

Duties and Responsibilities:

Define and document business requirements

Obtain documentation and engage with business users to understand the departments, their processes and technology applications
Document the scope, expectations and timelines in consultation with the project manager assigned to the work
Use techniques such as brainstorming, document analysis, focus groups, facilitated requirements workshops and prototyping to elicit complete and accurate business requirements for process or technology items
Depending on the project, develop the data requirements and business information model requirements in consultation with the Business Intelligence and Data Management teams
Document risks and issues identified by business participants during the requirements gathering process
Validate and drive the sign-off of documented requirements. Ensure that all stakeholders have a common understanding of the requirements including the business owners of the items, process engineers and technology teams
Evaluate and develop solution options for the business to select from including developing basic business cases and decision support tools. Research external practices to take into consideration ensuring that only publicly available information is used and that regulations related to competitor information are adhered to
Conduct an impact assessment for changes in scope, business requirements or delivery timelines and ensure that business owners formally approve the changes before they are added
Review current state processes and identify problem areas, potential control failure points and streamlining opportunities
Track the usage of the requirements documents through the life cycle of implementing the changes and support ongoing efforts to ensure that solutions that are designed are in fact in line with business expectations
Participate in the identification of the change impacts of new business requirements at the outset and throughout the change life cycle
Participate in change management activities such as the development of user guides or training materials once the business solutions are moved into implementation stage

System solution design and implementation support

Participate in the development of functional and technical systems specifications for the Sage ERP or lottery or other systems
Utilise techniques such as business rule analysis, modelling, data definitions, process modelling and scenarios to determine the detailed specifications
Work closely with the technology teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the business requirements when they design and develop solutions Occasional interaction with external technology providers is expected
Provide support and input into system test plans including the development of test cases, test scripts and scenarios
Participate in the user acceptance testing of new functionality developed using the business requirements Provide detailed feedback on whether the functionality meets the business expectations

Governance

Apply strict version control to requirements documentation
Ensure that documents are properly approved and then stored according to the document storage and retention policy

QlikView Development

Plan, organize, control, and evaluate the data available in the databases
Design, develop and publish QlikView models
Build of Dashboards, Reports and Data Visualisation
Meet with managers to discuss system requirements, specifications, and timelines
Test all models according to testing procedures (e.g., UAT)
Maintain and update published models

SSRS Reporting

Design reports in SSRS
Set up schedules in SSIS
Ensure all tasks are up to date and monitor delivery to recipients
Ensure Data Balances in the MS SQL database with the Data in the Oracle Database
Troubleshoot any datasets daily to ensure all data has been collected (balance between MS SQL and Oracle, as well as SSRS and QlikView)

Maintenance

Troubleshoot models for any irregularities once changes were made (Regression testing)
Maintain and update published models
Communication with stakeholders regarding the published models and ensure customer satisfaction
Monitoring of model usage
Ensure allocation of correct license CALs to users
Updating and maintain the Security access list
Communicate with Server Specialist to update Groups for QV Users once a new user is brought on board
Maintain Publisher and ensure schedules are not in conflict with each other

Training

Train user groups on the published model
Provide individual training and support on request
Maintain log and/or list of required maintenance
Provide access and train users
Creates document for the technical design and specifications

Knowledge and Experience:

6 years+ experience as a BI Specialist/Analyst
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
6 years + experience in Microstrategy or QlikView
6 years + experience with SSRS Reporting
Excellent practical understanding of process analysis and design
Ability to facilitate requirements gathering and validation
Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Computer hardware and software systems and programs
QlikView data extraction and data balancing
QlikView Publisher
SSIS
SSRS
Strong Data visualisation skills
Data interrogation and balancing
Ability to migrate requirements to QV solutions
Computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets, word-processing, graphics

Qualifications

Degree in Information Technology or related qualification
Diploma in Data Analysis
QlikView Designer
QlikView Developer
