DIVISIONAL MANAGER
The Divisional Manager is responsible for the full operational, financial, safety, and people performance of the division.  This role ensures efficient service delivery, regulatory compliance, cost control, asset utilisation, and client satisfaction while leading cross-functional teams across Operations, Fleet, Safety, Finance, Depot, and HR functions within the division.

Job Summary:
Management and Planning:

• Lead and manage all divisional operations and service planning activities.
• Oversee daily depot operations, load planning, route optimisation and scheduling.
• Ensure planning vs actual performance is monitored and corrected.
• Approve operational exceptions and over-rides.

• Prepare and present divisional reports for MANCO / EXCO.
• Report on KPI’s, financials, safety and operational performance
• Ensure audit readiness and document control
• Communicate meeting outcomes and action plans to teams
• Report on divisional profitability and cost per km, fleet utilisation and uptime, on-time delivery performance, fuel consumption vs benchmark.

• Manage and optimise fleet productivity to ensure on-time delivery and collection, with minimum loss in kilometres and / or minimal en-route lay over.
• Oversee TMS compliance and operation control reporting.
• Ensure POD control, booking accuracy and invoice cut-off adherence

• Oversee fleet availability, maintenance planning and compliance.
• Monitor fleet performance fuel efficiency through effective route planning and monitoring systems.
• Monitor KPI’s (fuel, km’s, utilisation, tonnage, on-time delivery, standing time etc.)
• Manage asset tracking and movement reporting.
• Review maintenance contracts and supplier performance.
• Manage and monitor with the technical department on the scheduling of maintenance on vehicles.
• Monitor vehicle uptime (VOR), breakdowns and repair turnaround times.
• Ensure inspections, COF’s, permits and certificates are current.

• Take accountability for divisional P & L performance
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, performance and management reports.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliation processes
• Drive cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
• Drive profitability and margin improvement initiatives
• Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs and variable expenses.
• Support procurement processes and cost negotiations (3-quote principle)

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders.
• Conduct site visits to clients, depots and service providers.
• Participate in client reviews and service performance meetings.
• Resolve escalations and service failures promptly.
• Support business development and new work opportunities. Collaborate with sales and marketing regarding capacity and solutions.

• Lead, motivate and develop high-performance divisional staff and supervisors across functions. Promote staff engagement, communication and morale.
• Drive continuous operational improvement and innovation initiatives.
• Support succession planning and employee development initiatives within the Division, by conducting regular performance reviews and coaching.
• Manage employees effectively in line with Company standards, policies and code of conduct.
• Set performance goals and measurable targets per department.
• Support recruitment, training and succession planning,
• Address employee relations and disciplinary matters.

• Ensure compliance in accordance with Company SOP’s, and Health and Safety Standards as per legislation.
• Enforce RTMS / PBS / permit / cross-border compliance where applicable.
• Oversee incident and accident reporting and investigations.
• Monitor driver behaviour, fatigue management and risk indicators.
• Ensure PPE, safety files, toolbox talks and audits are maintained.
• Drive a strong safety culture across the division.
• Ensure the fleet and drivers comply with road transport, safety and environmental regulations.

• Grade 12 with tertiary qualification in Transport / Logistics Management or Business Management (preferred).
• Experience:
• Minimum 8 – 10 years in transport / logistics or operations management.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role.
• Experience in the Road Freight and Logistics Industry especially in container logistics and fleet control.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic and analytical thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong financial acumen and budget management skills. Proven P & L responsibility experience.
• Knowledge of transport operations and fleet management systems.
