Head of Legal

Purpose:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing guidance on corporate governance, negotiating, and drafting contracts, risk management, and the development of plans and policies. This position reports to the Divisional Managing Director.

Qualifications and Experience required:

• BCom Honours Law or LLB
• Admitted Attorney is advantageous
• 5-8 Years'''' experience in a senior management Legal role in a corporate company
• At least 3 years'''' experience managing teams
• Knowledge of contract law
• Firm knowledge of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance Management

Key areas of responsibility:

• Manage the legal and compliance team
• Manage all legal affairs related to the structure of the organisation, its commercial licenses, and commercial law compliance.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with vendors, various legal authorities and external counsel
• Provide legal advice to the business and its leaders
• Identifying and mitigating legal risks
• Helping to draft, vet and negotiate contracts
• Conduct legal training for staff
• Advising on the legal implications of company policies and procedures
• Ensuring all contracts, legal documents and templates are up-to-date and compliant with statutory laws
