Maintenance Manager, FMCG Engieering, Noordsberg, KZN (Negotiable Package)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our Client, a National blue-chip Group Leader in the FMCG industry, is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a highly experienced Maintenance Manager to be based at their Noordsberg, KZN, Manufacturing Facility [R’s NEG]


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

  • Report directly into the Factory Manager
  • Provide direction, technical guidance and leadership in maintenance to ensure maximum plant availability and design capacity.
  • Lead and maintain a world class FMCG Operation

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Implement preventative and reactive maintenance in line with the Asset Management (AMP) Programme.
  • Partner with finance to develop maintenance budget and ensure maintenance activities are managed within budget and achieve cost synergies
  • Optimize maintenance performance, by holding teams accountable to achieve the highest standards of efficiencies and quality
  • Ensure the plant realises maintenance full potential and areas for improvement are identified
  • Ensure compliance with relevant local legislation pertaining to factories as well as the South African OSHAct.
  • Ensure talent development and performance management are embedded in local ways of working whilst leveraging support functions and resources to develop capability
  • Establish and lead a problem-solving approach throughout the maintenance function to ensuring that the appropriate techniques and tools are applied to effectively resolve issues
  • Model Leadership behaviours, collaborating, partnering and communicating effectively within and between teams and support functions
  • Promote a culture of consistently assessing risks and drive continuous improvement throughout operations
  • Adhere to and promote SHERQ & Food Safety standards
  • Develop the maintenance philosophy, plans, goals and KPI’s for the maintenance team.
  • Drive rigorous performance management, biased towards rewarding strong performance and compliance with critical behaviours, and including managing consequences where required
  • Oversee maintenance activities to ensure safety, efficiency, quality control, budgetary control, service, and cost-effective management of resources
  • Drive reliability by making informed trade-offs and driving initiatives that will deliver greatest possible output and quality levels in line with objectives
  • Report on performance in line with KPIs as well as key adverse or positive developments to Factory Manager.
  • Ensure that each area of plant is maintained to achieve maximum availability and equipment capacity cost effectively
  • Identify off crop & stop day work and implement maintenance activities in line with plans
  • Identify areas where maintenance, equipment performance and quality management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to make improvements
  • Develop capability on the job and hold FLM & Engineers accountable for performance
  • Manage the implementation of effective risk mitigation measures to reduce quality incidents to zero major or repeat findings during audits and inspections
  • Identify areas where quality, safety and food safety management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to make improvements
  • Set direction, implement and monitor effective team communication processes to drive best maintenance practices to support stable operations and sustained reliability performance
  • Monitor and manage equipment technical risk compliance through robust governance processes to maintain adherence to group risk and assurance standards and requirements
  • Ensure maintenance reporting is within compliance with company policy and procedure
  • Provide input into business cases for key capital projects and support delivery, ensuring required economic and desired outcomes are delivered on
  • Promote and adhere to Company’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)

KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT:

  • Minimum BSc or BTech Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering is ESSENTIAL
  • Gov’t Certificate of Competence (GCC) - Factories ESSENTIAL
  • 8+ years’ experience in manufacturing machinery maintenance
  • Continuous improvement knowledge and experience
  • Familiarity with Maximo, AMP/TQ advantageous.
  • MUST have Sugar Milling experience.
