JOB SUMMARY:
Our client in the Manufacturing Industry (Timber Merchants), is seeking an Operations Supervisor, to join their team in Akasia, Pretoria North - Gauteng.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position: Operations Supervisor

Introduction:

The operations supervisor will be responsible for all production planning and processing, general yard management as well as plant and machine maintenance.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to by all staff members.

List of Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive Raw Material: Material such as timber, nails and all hardware are received from suppliers. Will be responsible to check if the delivery note corresponds to delivered goods. Will be responsible to check the quality and report to management of any nonconformance.
Prepare Raw Material: Will be responsible to issue the material to the correct bay for production preparation. Material will have to be sorted and classified according to grade and quality requirements.
Prepare and Issue Job cards: Will be responsible to prepare and issue job cards according to requirements.
Supervise: Supervise the setting up of machines according to job card requirements.
Approve job for production.
Do ongoing quality control: Capture manufactured sheets on computer system once job is complete.
Train machine operators where required.
Manage all processes related to tooling such as sharpening, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 or NQF4.
Preferably a tertiary qualification such as Diploma in Production Management.
At least 5 years’ experience in preferably a carpentry environment.

Knowledge / Skills:

Possess basic knowledge and skill in the use of a computer.
Must have basic knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Excel.
Possess strong mechanical an electrical aptitude and able to use hand tools, read blueprints and job cards as well as measuring instruments.
Ability to operate machinery safely and determine when maintenance is needed.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Attention to detail and experience working in fast paced environment.
Be self-motivated and must be able to work in a team.
Must have good communication skills and positive attitude.
