  The Role:

  Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of all environments (networks, mainframe, servers etc.) connectivity

  • Execute daily batch processing for banking clients
  • Execute month-end batch processing for banking clients

  • Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions
  • Perform daily backups as per operational procedures
  • Printing of statements and letters with effective quality control and distribution to the mailing house

  • Shift handover and effective communication with regards the production and development systems

  • Continuous updates of daily reports
  • Effectively execute requests from users
  • Good understanding of operating standards and procedures

  • Tapes and tape library management
  • Monitoring of transactions of the banks on ATMâ??s and POS

  • Organise and schedule production work
  • Ensure physical security procedures for the datacentre are adhered to

  • Create and modify JCL in programs with assistance from application programmers.

  • Understanding of JCL and mainframe commands
  • Understanding Workload Automation ESP (scheduling product)

  • Understanding OPS/MVS (automation product)
  • Understanding CA1 (tape management product)
  • Understanding of operation standards in the mainframe environment

  • Troubleshoot problems arising from system errors and if needed escalate

  Skills and Experience:

  Essential Qualification:

  • Matric
  • Proven training of IBM Mainframe job contro language â?? (JBL)
  • Proven training of CAâ??s workload automation job scheduling and control products
  • IBM mainframe and computer skills
  • Previous financial services experience advantageous
  • Mainframe computer production control procedures
  • At least 4 to 8 yearsâ?? experience in mainframe operations environment as Operator.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • TP monitoring skills
  • Mainframe skills
  • System command skills (ZOS, CICS, JES, VTAM)
  • Advanced JCL skills
  • Problem solving techniques
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to work under pressure, cope with stress
