POSITION INFO:
A well-established building contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong QS with solid building construction experience and a proven ability to manage projects from a financial and contractual perspective. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the full quantity surveying function across building projects Prepare and manage budgets, valuations, payment certificates and final accounts Cost control, forecasting and financial reporting Measurement and preparation of BOQs Subcontractor procurement and management Evaluate subcontractor claims, variations and payment applications Manage variations, contractual notices and commercial negotiations Monitor project expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Agent and Contracts Manager Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting to senior management REQUIREMENTS BSc\/BTech\/National Diploma in Quantity Surveying 8+ years' experience within the building construction industry Strong experience working for a reputable building contractor Proven experience on commercial, residential, industrial or multi-storey building projects CCS Candy experience is essential BuildSmart experience is essential Strong subcontractor and commercial management experience Excellent understanding of construction contracts and project cost control Strong computer and Excel skills Excellent communication and negotiation abilities Ability to work independently and take ownership of the commercial function
