POSITION INFO:
Our client, a well-established leader in the industrial sector, is seeking a highly skilled Specialist Support Engineer to join their MIS team based in Bryanston. This role offers the opportunity to work in a complex, high-availability environment where your expertise in virtualization, storage, and backup solutions will directly impact operational efficiency and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and optimise VMware virtual infrastructure environments
Oversee enterprise backup solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication
Administer and maintain server hardware and storage infrastructure
Lead infrastructure-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Manage third-party vendors and service providers
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with safety standards

Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator (Windows Server)
Minimum 10 years’ experience managing VMware environments
Minimum 10 years’ experience with Veeam backup solutions
Minimum 10 years’ experience with IBM storage systems

Skills & Certifications:

MCSA/MCSE (Windows Server) – mandatory
MCITP Enterprise Administrator – essential
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification
IBM Certified Specialist (System X, Storage, Tape, Fibre)
Veeam Certified Backup Specialist
Strong knowledge of virtualization, storage, and backup infrastructure

Additional Requirements:

Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
Willingness to travel as required
Availability for after-hours support, standby, and weekend work
