Accountant

SUMMARY:
A company in the logistics sector is seeking for a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial operations, compliance, and provide strategic financial support. The role focuses on ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and aligned with relevant regulations and legislation. This position demands strong attention to detail, accountability, and a proactive approach to financial management. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting business objectives.

POSITION INFO:
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all reporting deadlines are achieved Prepare and post accurate journal entries into the general ledger Perform general ledger reconciliations and resolve outstanding items timeously Compile and maintain monthly management accounts with accurate supporting records Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions monthly Provide technical accounting guidance and support to stakeholders on reporting and cost allocations Assist in coordinating the budgeting process and support budget owners in achieving targets Facilitate audit requirements by preparing deliverables and liaising with external auditors Identify financial risks and implement effective internal control measures Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring proper authorisation for asset movements Reconcile and monitor stock to ensure accurate inventory records Oversee accounts payable processes to ensure accurate payments and up-to-date ageing Manage accounts receivable, including customer deposits, debit orders, and ageing reports Oversee cash flow processes and prepare regular cash flow reporting, including foreign payments Ensure tax compliance by managing VAT submissions, PAYE, provisional tax, and related reconciliations Skills & Experience: At least 5 years' proven experience in an accounting role Demonstrated ability to manage high-pressure environments and handle large volumes of complex financial transactions Strong working knowledge of Pastel, Sage X3, or similar accounting systems Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Excellent verbal communication skills with a strong ability to actively listen and interpret information Capable of working independently while maintaining high levels of efficiency and productivity Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on meeting deadlines Well-developed analytical mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Strong interpersonal skills combined with effective organisational capabilities Sound understanding of and adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements Willingness and flexibility to travel nationally for branch visits when required Qualification: Relevant BCom Accounting degree and\/or honours For more information connect with us on and Register your CV to create a profile and to view all our Financial recruitment vacancies.
