Business Development Manager – Retail Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL)

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the Retail ESL business. Identify, target and secure new business opportunities within the retail sector. Build and maintain strong relationships with executive, operational and procurement stakeholders. Develop strategic account plans and identify opportunities to grow existing customer accounts. Build and manage a strong sales pipeline and ensure accurate sales forecasting. Lead, manage, mentor and motivate the Retail ESL sales team. Set and manage individual and team sales targets. Conduct regular sales reviews, pipeline meetings and forecasting sessions. Support the sales team with customer engagements, presentations and negotiations. Manage strategic customer relationships and executive-level engagements. Present and demonstrate ESL solutions to customers. Lead and coordinate quotations, proposals and tender responses. Work with technical and operational teams to develop commercially and technically viable solutions. Participate in contract negotiations and deal closure. Monitor market trends, competitor activity and new opportunities within the retail technology space. Develop go-to-market initiatives and strategic partnerships to expand market reach. Ensure customer satisfaction, retention and successful adoption of ESL solutions. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 \/ Matric - Essential. Diploma or Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Management, Retail Management, Commerce, IT, Supply Chain Management or a related field would be advantageous. 5-7 years' experience in Business Development, Sales Management, Key Account Management or Retail Technology Sales. Minimum 3 years' experience managing and leading a sales team. Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets. Experience managing large customer accounts and commercial negotiations. Experience working with CRM systems and sales reporting. Strong understanding of the retail environment, including retail operations, merchandising, pricing and digital transformation. Highly Advantageous Experience working with or selling into major retail groups such as: Massmart | Makro | SPAR | Checkers | Shoprite | Pick n Pay Experience within retail technology, digital transformation or Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) will be highly advantageous.
