General Manager – Manufacturing

Overview 

My client a large Distribution Trading House of FMCG products in East Africa - operating since 1952 . The group also has manufacturing facilities like wax candles, wax-coated matches, bottling spirit, steel, and chemicals and has ambitious plans to grow. The group has around 3,000 employees of which 180 are expatriate employees

The company is urgently recruiting for a professional General Manager - Manufacturing who will be the manufacturing head for Edible Oil / Steel / Sodium Silicate factories with accountability for the P&L. The Oil and Steel factories are currently under the erection and commission stage.

Candidates from Southern Africa , East Africa or India will get preference - Work experience in East Africa is essential (+plus)  

Remuneration Structure:

• Very competitive US$ salary (Nett) paid offshore - highly negotiable

Requirements 

The incumbent should be an Engineering Graduate with 20 years of experience in the manufacturing steel / edible oil industry out of which the last five years should be as Unit Head.

General Responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO the incumbent would be responsible for:

? Helping in completing the steel and Oil factory project and erection /commissioning.
? Take care of the day-to-day operations of these factories.
? Prepare annual sales, revenue, and R&M budgets and achieve them.
? Ensuring adequate raw material and spare parts are available at all times for uninterrupted production.
? Preventive, productive, and break-down maintenance works.
? Review the unit operations parameters with HODs and budges vs actual periodically and make course corrections.
? Bring in the best manufacturing facilities.
? Ensure the wastages and costs are under control at all times.
? Preparation of MIS reports and submitting them to the management.
? Developing a good team and ensuring the team is performing.
? Ensuring all the statutory laws of the country are adhered to.
? Advising management on the business opportunities and threats from time to time.
? Any other job assigned by the management from time to time.
