Head of Finance

A well-established and growing property organisation is seeking a Head of Finance to lead and manage the finance function across its portfolio. This role requires a strong technical accountant with excellent commercial acumen, capable of partnering with business leaders to drive financial performance, optimise cash flow, and support strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the full finance function including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit management, and compliance. You will also play a key role in managing property-specific financial requirements such as lease accounting, property valuations support, tenant recoveries, and portfolio performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full finance function including monthly management reporting, statutory reporting, and financial controls
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning across the property portfolio
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and funding requirements to support growth and asset performance
- Oversee audit processes, compliance, and governance, ensuring adherence to IFRS and relevant legislation
- Provide commercial insights on portfolio performance, tenant profitability, lease recoveries, and property financial metrics
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- CA(SA) qualification is essential
- Minimum 6–10 years post-articles experience, with proven finance leadership exposure
- Strong experience within the property sector (commercial / residential / retail portfolios advantageous)
- Solid understanding of lease accounting (IFRS 16) and property-related reporting requirements
- Proven experience managing a finance team and driving performance
- Strong Excel skills and experience with property management / ERP systems (MRI, MDA, SAP, Sage or similar advantageous)
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage at executive level
- Highly analytical, deadline-driven, and commercially minded
