The client is a global investment manager, constructing high conviction portfolios and helps preserve and expand wealth for their clients. With offices across the world and has operated for centuries in some of those, they boast true global investment wisdom.

This role forms part of the Investment Management Team based in the Johannesburg office and has a strong working relationship with the Investment team in Cape Town. Other working relationships include general Relationship Managers, external investment managers, and linked investment service providers.

The primary purpose of the role is to support Portfolio Managers in Johannesburg to manage client investment portfolios by taking the client’s specific situation, the agreed mandate and the investment team’s views and preferred vehicles into account.

Qualifications and Experience

Business, Economics or Investment related degree, preferably with Honours

Investment-related postgraduate qualification (or studying towards) such as CFP or CFA advantageous

2-3 years of relevant experience in the finance/investment industry

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

Ensure proper take-on of new clients, collecting FICA and liaising with client service team

Conducts suitability assessment of clients and analysis of client affairs (fact find)

Prepare new client reviews and proposals

Prepare and oversee client implementation plans

Maintain and update client lists, provide tax statements when requested and calculate expected CGT

Prepare cash flow forecasts using expected investment returns and cash needs

Ongoing monitoring of client portfolios - preparing trade recommendations and rebalancing of portfolios when necessary

Attend client meetings, prepare meeting packs, notes and minutes

Prepare feedback to general client queries and ad hoc investment analysis requests

Check monthly and quarterly reports and liaise with reporting team on requirements

Reconcile and audit client reports

Prepare quarterly commentary on client portfolios

Trading and execution support

Take responsibility to ensure all trades are executed accurately and timeously

Investigate trading queries

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure that client files are properly set up and maintained

Ensure clients adhere to the approved fund manager list, asset allocation targets, and limits

Maintain a record of client advice.
