Senior Legal Advisor

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, MEASURES & INTERFACES

• Performing legal due diligence on potential transactions or on deals
• Identity legal risks and recommend mitigation measures for managing risks
• Participate actively in structuring of cross border transactions, negotiating and reviewing a range
of Financing Agreements ,Project Agreements and Security Agreements
• Drafting and negotiating a range of  policies of insurance and Offers of Cover 
• Prepare submission papers for Exco and Committees
• Drafting, vetting and negotiating service level agreements
• Provide general legal advice, including legal research

Key Measures
• Participation in the due diligence process
• Number of managed contracts/ policies
• Time spent on each file
• Number of pending litigations
• Relevance of the advice provided to operational units
• Extent to which customers are satisfied with legal services from inside and outside counsel.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Sound corporate and commercial legal knowledge
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Ability to draft, review and negotiate Financing Agreements , Project Agreements , Security
Agreements and other legal documentation
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Capable of working in a high pressured environment and can exercise independent judgement;
• Ability to prioritize
• Ability to independently deliver and provide guidance on highly complex projects and
transactions
• Ability to mentor juniors on areas of specialization
• Basic understanding of international and local financing instruments
• In depth knowledge of laws and legal processes relating to Project Finance, Corporate Finance
and Export Credit Finance
• Exhibits honesty, reliability, and a commitment to strict confidentiality
• Working knowledge of various computer programs including MS Word, Power Point, Excel and
Outlook.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• LLB and Admission as an Attorney is essential.
• A minimum of five years post-article experience in the commercial finance or banking sector
• Experience in legal due diligence
